Self-doubt is back in its cage!

"Everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it," Sylvia Plath wrote in her journal while at Smith College. "The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt."

I largely keep my self-doubt as an artist in a cage with a cloth cover over it! Occasionally it escapes and haunts my paper, canvas, paint, pencils and mind rendering them dull and unusable.

However, I do have the 'guts' to carry on and follow a mantra: make the work, show the work, make the work, show the work . . .
Little rejections and failures feed the doubt but I get over it, even if they are as big as 2 works rejected by the Royal Academy this year!

And then, a sign, a beacon a reminder to keep going, yesterday I sold a piece of artwork! I recently showed some work at the brilliant Arthouse in York and Sharon the owner bought A Plastic Surgery. Thank you for buying the drawing and for helping keep a cage occupied!
